“Ito yung panahon na hindi tayo dapat manahimik,” Angel Locsin on denial of ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal

The ABS-CBN Franchise renewal controversy has been an ongoing national dispute since network’s old franchise lapsed on May 4.

The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) on May 5 ordered the media giant to halt its broadcast operations on TV and radio across the Philippines following the expiration of the franchise that lawmakers failed to deliberate on it on time.

Ever since the station went off air, many have spoken against the untimely decision amid pandemic crisis. The stations’ employees, artists, supporters have been long crying for reconsideration to approve the franchise renewal application but was denied by an overwhelming majority of the House committee on July 10.

After hearing the devastating news, the actress quickly posted “Lost in thoughts” on her Instagram, deeply saddened for her ill-fated home and family in the industry.

Remains hopeful, during the mini program held in front of the leading broadcaster’s compound, the actress encouraged all the Kapamilya to unite and speak up. “Ito yung panahon na hindi tayo dapat manahimik,” she firmly said, emphasizing the relevance of the industry and the lives of its people greatly affected by the shutdown.

“Wag ho sana nating hayaan na dito nalang matatapos ang ABS-CBN. Kailangan po natin ang isa’t isa. Kailangan po natin magkaisa dahil hindi lamang po ito laban ng mga kumpanya, buhay po ng mga tao ang nakasalalay dito,” she also aired out concerning the workers who lost jobs at the worst possible time.
