Angel Locsin donates a pair of shoes in Marikina Shoe Museum for their shoe collection!

The shoe making industry in Marikina started way back 1887 spearheaded by Don Laureano Guevarra popularly known as 'Kapitan Moy'. From their simple beginnings, the industry thrived gradually and on 1970, they started exporting shoes made by Marikeños in different countries like America, Canada and Australia.

To learn more about the shoe making industry in Marikina, Angel Locsin and team visited Marikina Shoe Museum on Iba 'Yan's 7th episode.  Mr. Noel Box, OIC of Marikina Shoe Industry Development Office and Mr. Ponchit Santos, Marikina's Tourism Department Head showed them around inside the Museum.

One area that they visited inside the museum is the shoe collection of prominent or known personality in the country. Some of the shoes displayed were that of Ma'am Charo Santos Concio’s and Mr. German Moreno’s to name a few.

The LGU of Marikina requested for Angel's shoes to be displayed in the museum and the actress willingly obliged and donated a pair of gold high-heeled shoes she used in some of her TV appearances.

After her visit at the museum, Angel tried the Marikina Tram and apparently, she’s the first celebrity to have experienced the tram.

The pandemic has take a toll on the shoemaker's livelihood and has affected their income. It also has affected the tourism in Marikina as no one's really allowed to travel for leisure as of yet. Hopefully, after all these, and when everything's back to normal, you can pay a visit at Marikina Shoe Museum and buy Filipino made shoes. Mahalin and sariling atin, support local and visit Marikina Shoe Trade Fair Marketing Cooperative on facebook!
