Angel Locsin and other amazing women who heed nation's call for help amid the pandemic | Spark Philippines

SPARK (Samahan ng mga Pilipina para sa Reporma at Kaunlaran) is an SEC registered NGO composed of advocates for the empowerment of women founded by women champions committed to the nationwide development and inclusivity of women, LGBTQ+ and other marginalize sectors.

On their official Instagram account, SPARK features women who heed the nation’s call for help amid the pandemic. On their first #WatchMeWednesday entry, they listed amazing and hardworking women who have become an inspiration in this time of crisis one of which is Angel Locsin.

Since the onset of the pandemic, we have seen how Angel Locsin maximize her resources to help health workers and frontliners. Along with her friends, they were able to build temporary air conditioned sleeping tents for the health workers of Taguig.

She then launched #UniTENTweStandPH, a fund drive which aims to help solve overcrowding in hospitals and because of the poeple’s overwhelming support, they were able to raise more than 11M pesos in 19 days that was used to procure more than 200 tents donated to 135 hospitals in the Metro and neighboring provinces.

The actress and known philanthropist just doesn’t stop helping as she leads relaunching of Shop and Share to help the country increase its testing capacity.

Two other women who were featured on the said post are Mara Sy Coson, granddaughter of Henry Sy Sr. of SM groups who was able to reach out to 50 hospitals as she spearheads her family company’s team tasked to provide logistics and warehousing as well as the allocation of medical equipment, PPEs, test kits and ventilators in the whole country, and Abba Napa, co-founder of The Moment Group, a company that provided more than 1500 meals to hospitals and clinics on a daily basis.
